Homebrew Mechanics
Homebrew Rules
Item Rarity Restrictions:
Due to mechanical balancing, characters are required to be of a certain level to use a certain rarity of item. Please see the following list to confirm the maximum level of rarity you can use.
Level Usable Item Tier
Level 3: Common and Uncommon
Level 5: Rare
Level 9: Very Rare
Level 15: Legendary
Level 17: Artifacts without level progression
Reflavoring Items
Items can be reflavored such that they provide no additional mechanical benefit.
If you are wanting to use a katana for your character the server rule is that you may use a rapier that deals slashing damage.
If you are wanting to use a chakram for your character the server rule is that you may use a dart that deals slashing damage.
Blindsight
Change blindsight to read:
A creature with blindsight can effectively see its surroundings without relying on sight, within a specific radius. Creatures without eyes, such as oozes, and creatures with echolocation or heightened senses, such as bats and true dragons, have this sense. Total cover still blocks blindsight as normal.
You don’t suffer from the drawbacks of the blinded condition against creatures within the range of your blindsight. (Server errata)
Flanking:
Creatures are flanked when the following condition is met:
When two creatures are within 5 feet and on either side of a hostile creature such that a straight line could be drawn from the center of them through the center of the hostile creature, those creatures gain a +2 Bonus to Attack Rolls.
Attacks of Opportunity and Warcaster
When your ability to opportunity attack is modified, the attack of opportunity from your Warcaster feat is modified in the same manner.
For example: If you have the Warcaster feat in conjunction with the Polearm Master feat, and you are wielding a glaive, halberd, pike, quarterstaff, or spear, you may cast a spell instead of taking an attack when a creature enters the reach you have with that weapon.
Lifting Race Restriction on Class Archetypes
Class Archetypes such as the Barbarian: Battlerager do not have the race restriction enforced on this server.
Quickdraw:
You can take out an object as part of the same action in which you use it, rather than needing to use your object interaction. This applies to bonus actions and reactions.
Item Lending:
When trading magic items, there is by default a 1 week cooldown period between trades, unless the recipient does not use, consume or attune to said magic item.
This means that if you trade it to one of your friends and they use/consume/attune to it, they cannot trade it back or to someone else until a week irl time has passed.
This limitation only applies to items traded outside of quests
Unarmed, Improvised, and Natural Weapons:
Unarmed, improvised, and natural weapons count as melee weapons for the purposes of smites and similar class features.
Limited Items:
The clockwork amulet and spell gem are limited to one use each per quest, they cannot be stacked.
Only one type of each wand (ie Wand of Magic Missiles, Wand of Fireball) may be utilized per character per quest.
Tasha's Magic Items:
Any item that applies a bonus to spellcasting (such as the Bloodwell Vial or Arcane Grimoire) apply to all spells the attuned character has access to, but that character may only attune to one of these items at a time.
Unique Items:
Some items within Embris will have the "Unique" tag. This tag means that the item cannot be crafted, and if it is sold to the shop it cannot be purchased back.
Great Weapon Fighting:
The rerolling for Great Weapon Fighting applies only to the weapon’s direct damage die. It cannot be used to reroll dice from a Divine Smite, Crimson Rite or similar effects.
Singular Character Death:
If you have only one character and that character dies permanently, you may transfer half their DT rounded down to your next character.
Bringing Character's Back to Life:
A character may only be revived by revival spells besides Revivify (such as Raise Dead, Reincarnate, etc.) a total of 3 times. After they have been revived three times in such a way they cannot be revived again except via the Wish spell. When one dies and is revived by a method besides Revivify this must be logged in #death-and-retirement.
Adamantine and Mithril Weapons
Adamantine or Mithril versions of a melee weapon or of ten pieces of ammunition costs 500gp more than the normal version, whether the weapon or ammunition is made of the metal or coated with it.
In-laid Gems
Gems can be encrusted in weapons and armor (for no combative benefits) at a cost of gold pieces equal to 10% the total cost of the gems and 5 downtime days.
NPC Casting:
Revival spells can be provided in any of the major cities for twice the normal material cost of the spell.
For other healing spells without material cost the clerics of these cities require a donation of 50gp*Spell Level to the church.
Long Rest Casting
Spells used during a long rest are not replenished after completing a long rest.
Potion Creation
Potions are considered minor tier items unless otherwise listed.
Selling Items
Any sales for magic items must be listed in the #selling-ledger channel in the Expenditures category.
Mundane items sell for half the cost listed in the PHB. Weapons and armor sell for the combined total. Consumables sell for half.
Common 10gp
Uncommon 100gp
Rare 1000gp
Very Rare 10,000gp
For example, an Uncommon +1 Longsword sells for 100gp + 7.5gp = 107.5 gp. A Rare Potion of Superior Healing sells for 500gp.
Boon Limitations
-Each character can have an amount of major boons equal to half their profiency bonus rounded up.
-Each character can have 4 minor boons.
-Should one receive a boon while at maximum slots for that type, they must choose in the moment of receiving if they wish to replace and old boon with the new one, or not gain the new one. Once this choice is made the boon not taken or the boon removed is lost.
